TO FRAME

My design concept is the word “frame.” I used frames to define interior space and create a unique double-layer circulation system. My pavilion is designed to be suitable for group study, individual study, and casual gatherings.

The pavilion has four storeys, including the base level. The series of frames defines three types of rooms: two small rooms on the first floor, two medium ones on the second, and two large ones on the third. Horizontal frames define all the rooms, while vertical frames define the passages and corridors. This rule can also be applied to the facade design, where numerous horizontal frames are wrapped around the rectilinear structure as exterior skeletons.

Moreover, the pavilion also explored space below the ground level as the circulation system led to the underground station. The ground was made into a tunnel that connect the front and the rear while enabling direct passage or a temporary shelter space from the weather.
