LIGHTING & STAGING

I use a circular plan for my pavilion, creating four smaller spaces into the ground with different materials. The material includes wood, metal, pebbles and fabrics. Materiality, thus, became one of my main concepts. Moreover, the artist Haegue Yang likes to play with natural lighting in her practices. The rotating roofs with stained glass windows constantly alternate the interior light while the steel frames create shadows shifting throughout the day. At night, the lighting bar on each circular stage will turn on and function as the major lighting source.

I chose Haegue Yang’s Sonic Clotheshorse – Dressage #1, 2018, to display in my pavilion. The artwork I chose is movable, and the audience can push it around inside the pavilion. I decided to play with materiality because it could create interesting effects when the visitors could push the artwork on different surfaces.
